Hi All
We had a very successful 3 hour race at Zwartkops, Kawasaki’s took 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th, and 10th. Congratulations to all my fellow ZX10 Cup riders for carrying the flag and to those with some mishaps, better luck next time. Staying out for and hour each paid off but it was extremely tiring and you really had to concentrate to maintain consistent lap times. It was all worthwhile and I would certainly do it again. There was a great spirit and even the wife’s got stuck in with the countdown board. Some of the teams went hell for leather from the word go and it did not pay off, Gavin managed a great pace on Stew’s bike posting a 1.07.2 in his session. Louis’s team were doing well and were not far behind, they unfortunately suffered gearbox trouble but still kept it together to the end. Gavin Ramsay was doing 10’s with the use of 1st, 4th and 5th. Sarel and son’s went very well, he got his ZX10 working in time and was looking very confident, reckon he will do well next year. Danie was riding with Duane, having just got back form Spain, Herbie has been repainted with traditional white red and blue, they finished in 6th spot. Hannes, Simon and Steen (new rider for next year) teemed up and finished a credible 7th after only Qualifying in 20th position. Dave and Trevor finished in 10th place and looked pretty pleased with themselves, unfortunately Reuben and Franceua (Frankwa as they say on Tv) did not even get one lap in as Alan Jon Venter dumped it on the first lap. On a whole it was a very enjoyable day with great atmosphere and lots of friends.
After the prize giving we went to the BMW bauma for our year end function. The guys were in good spirits and the venue was well organized. Thanks to Kawasaki who footed the bill, I would have liked to see more of our team mates there though. The trophy’s were presented to those whom were present. Congratulations to Greg, Gavin, Adon, Armand, Louie and Piet for getting top honors in their classes respectively.
The good news is that we were riding the Bridgestones and they performed very well, below are some pics of the tyres after completing the 3 hours.
