EmTek Racing News - 2007

19/02/2007 - BOTTS News Letter

Hi Fellow BOTT’s competitors.

What a fantastic start to our year, the M Cubed guys dressed the pits, the tv crew filmed the racing and the riders produced some fine racing right through the field. Benjamin Du Plesis won the day, I came second and Wayne Thomas third. In the Masters Class Derick Odendaal beat the two favourites Christo Rheeders and Brian Moldenhauer to take the win convincingly in both heats. Just a note on the Masters Class, there will be trophies at each event so please guys stay for the festivities and the filming of the Prize giving.

The race on the 3rd of March (First leg of Tri Series) at Kyalami has been cancelled, the reason for this is although Kyalami want us there on the first National of the year, Motorsport SA (George Portman and Adrian Scholtz) feel that we can race there but it can’t count towards any championship. Their argument is that as this is the first race that the 1098 will do in a National event, that we may detract from the National event being held on the day. For any of you that is interested to see the string of  e mails between Motorsport SA (George and Adrian) and myself please respond to clinton@sabiking.co.za and I will gladly send it on to you. So as not to detract from the National series and have a poor field for Botts running on the day, it is better to withdraw.

Good news however:

There is going to be a Regional event held at Kyalami during the year, 1 of the other races are being replaced and we will have the details of this soon, so if it is before the East London round we will still have the start of the Tri Series at Kyalami, this race will just count towards our Regional Championship as well as our Tri series Championship. We will keep you posted.

As you would have noticed, at Zwartkops we had a demarcated area just for the Bott’s guys to park, at our next round at Phakisa we will have the same, just bigger. Rosso Moto has promised to have free Cappuccino and cold drinks for all and again we will have the girls walking around making sure everybody is comfortable. If I can ask all of you to please make an effort to find us and become part of the M-Cubed Bott’s family. We will again have TV coverage, the Zwartkops event should be flighted on Monday the 26th of March on 2Wheels, we will inform you via sms. Please confirm that Dominique (0720785818 ) has your correct nrs.

Remi from Remi Tech in Port Elizabeth is having an Eastern Cape regional event on the 3rd of March where they would like to have a few Bott’s guys race, Jo from Rosso Moto is going down and has space for a few bikes, so if you are interested, please contact Remi on 0837090631 or remi@lantic.net. You can also contact Jo on 0828011116 for Transport arrangements. This is a fun event and does not count towards our championships but promises to be a fun event in any way. The Aldo Scribante track is a fantastic track to race around, so this comes highly recommended.

Attached is the overall standings and the masters class standing.

Kind Regards

Clinton Pienaar
