Just a quick update on Royce’s Spanish trip. Royce was one of six South Africans accepted to test in Spain for the MotoGP academy. The Academy received 1100 applications from 62 countries and selected 165 riders for testing over 3 days. Of those, the Academy selected 45 riders for the final selection, out of which they will select 20 riders to attend the Academy in Spain next year. Royce proved to be the fastest South African and proved that he could hold his own with the world’s best when he was selected as one of the 45 finalists. Unfortunately, they have listed Royce by his first name (Gilbert) as they worked off the passport names.

We should receive the list of those selected for the Academy by the end of this week and sincerely hope Royce is the first South African ever selected for this prestigious Academy.
