EmTek Racing News - 2005

24/12/2005 - Sheridan to ride World Superstock 2006

24/12/2005            EmTek Racing Secures Sheridan a World Super Stock Ride

EmTek Racing, having recently secured the personal management contract for local SA Superbike Champion Sheridan Morias, have just concluded a deal which will see Sheridan riding a Suzuki in the World Superstock Championship in 2006 for EMS Racing. This team finished a credible third in the championship last year with Australian Craig Coxhill piloting a fairly lonely Suzuki K5. There is a lot of information on the teams web site and the address is: www.emsracing.com

Obviously the biggest concern for South African riders is the raising of sufficient funds to cover the cost of the ride and the rider costs. EmTek have secured sufficient funds to pay for the ride, and still require some funding for the rider costs.

EmTek has, for some time now, looked to take Sheridan to the World stage and with some help and guidance from the motorcycle community have achieved this, to this end we would like to thank the following persons for their assistance, support and guidance:

Robbie Petersen; George Portman; Dave Petersen; Simon Fourie; Richard Knowles; Ian Hardie; Alaine ????

EmTek Racing has a long-term plan which will hopefully see a EmTek South African Superstock Team in 2007. Agreements are being concluded with manufacturers and local businesses for sponsorship for 2007 and 2008. We will be looking to other prospects for the 2nd rider spot and have already identified some prospects. The objective is to create a path for the young riders wishing to continue their careers on the world stage. This will fulfill a life long ambition of the principals of Emtek Racing and that is to offer a South African a ride on the world stage.

EmTek views the World Superstock Championship as the most probable entry onto the World stage as the cost of entry is quite low and also the viewership in on the increase with probable coverage in SA, in fact possibly more coverage than the local National Championship.

Sheridan would like to thank the following people for making this possible:

Dad Ricky (spanner guru and greatest supporter); Gilbert Parsons (securing the ride); Andrew Parsons (securing the ride); Brendan Hilt (spannering); Mom, Dylan, Jamie and Adeline (moral support).

The biggest and loudest thanks must go to two people that have made this opportunity a reality:

Menno Parsons (financial support); and Simon Fourie (financial support)

Gilbert Parsons
