Howdy, we raced on Saturday at Zwartkops.
The first race was the Thunderbike race, 12 laps. I qualified 9th out of 31, had a poor start and was 20th by turn 2. I had a great race, posted my best time and finished 10th.
2nd race was the 3 hr endurance race. I rode with Jason Lotter and Brent Gehlig. Brent qualified 13th out of 19.
We rode in half hour sessions, Brent rode first, then Jason, then myself.
Brent crashed after the first 25mins after getting us up to 8th place. We were able to recover the bike and borrow a right handlebar and foot peg from my brother Rod's ZX10. We lost about 25mins in the pits but managed to complete the race.
We finished 2nd last with 135 laps, 31 laps behind the leaders. In spite of the the crash we totally enjoyed the race. I have no regrets and will be doing the 3hr again next year.
I would like to thank Jason and Brent for riding with me and doing their best, Paul Vosloo for spannering for the team (M&P Racing) and for his valuable advice and input, Rod for the loan of the handle bar and footpeg at short notice, Darryl and Alain for helping with the repairs and Jon Deane for acting as refueller.
Most of all I would like to thank Colleen for standing by and supporting us.
Stewart Christie
