EmTek Racing News - 2005

10/07/2005 - Cole - Race report from Queensland - OZ

Cole Odendaal

Another round at Qld raceway was relatively uneventful (no crashes for us) - and successful.

Cole convinced me (much to the horror of Vida) to allow him to ride the ZX10 - so you will see him on the white #25 in the attached photos.

He qualified 2nd on the 600 and finished 3rd in all 3 races - 15 / 20 and 15 laps - each with 2 warm up laps.

With qualifying - Cole did around 130 laps on Sunday.

Cole had done some practice on the ZX10 on Friday morning and qualified 12th (out of 20) on the ZX10 on Sunday - he did only manage to get in 1 flying lap though. From 12th, he finished 7th in race 1 and went on to finish 5th in the other 2 races giving him an overall 5th for the day - quite awesome. He was on a 180 treaded rear and the rest of the field on slicks. In the 3 races he got a relatively bad start and had to fight his way through the traffic. We were impressed - oh - guess I will need a new bike soon now that mine has been grappled away from me.

Sorry I did not send you the race report for the Queensland State Championships in June - suffice to say that Cole got a 3rd in the Championship on his 600.

There is now talk of Cole partnering with Robbie Bugden on an R1 for the 2 hour coming up in August.

Next Round - the National at Winton on the 19th August - Cole will be in the Supersport class and the 1000 C+D grade race.

Cheers

Dirk
