01/05/2005 - Aussie Superbike Tyre Rules

Australian Tyre Rules for Supersport and SuperStock racing.

The tyre rules - there are 3 homologated tyres - Michelin, Dunlop and Bridgestone. Cole is riding the 2005 model Dunlop 209 GP's. You are allowed 2 sets of tyres for the weekend, including Qualifying, warm up and the 2 races. The tyres are handed in during practice on Friday by 10h30, marked and numbered and then randomly issued back to the riders by 13h30. This means that you most likely end up riding on someone else's tyres, no opportunity to cheat. They are checked and matched back to the bike after each qualifying and race session.

You can use them as you like. Generally they use one pair to qualify and warm-up and then one set for the two races.

As you know, Dunlop has one compound.

The superstock 600's have a single control tyre (Dunlop 208GP's). they only get one set to qualify, warm up and race on.
