23/04/2005 - Cole - Race report first Regional

Cole Odendaal starts his illustrious racing career in Australia

Cole had his second race meeting yesterday – the second round of the Queensland Champs. He had been struggling changing from the Pirelli’s to the Dunlops and we finally managed to get a reasonable setup on Saturday afternoon. He was starting to get his lap times together again and left the track on Saturday a little more confident than he had been the previous week.

Sunday morning he qualified 2^nd and that is how the day went – second in all 3 races with a second overall.

The overall winner was a little quicker than Cole but Cole never stood a chance, having 3 terrible starts – 5^th, 4^th and 6^th into the first corner in the 3 races (from 2^nd on the grid). Once he managed to get past the other riders, Guy (the winner) was gone.

Anyway – his first national event at Eastern Creek next week. We are definitely not expecting great things from him – he has no experience at the track – no setup and we will be there without Julian or anyone to help us.

Anyway – it will all be a part of the learning curve.

Phillip Island is then next in the middle of May – that should be great fun.
