EmTek Racing News - 2003

08/11/2003 - Final Regional Race of Season

Pietersburg hosted the final race of the 2003 Regional season.

Although a small go-kart track not enjoyed by competitors that much, it is greatly appreciated by the locals. Due to the nature and size of the track, it offers very close racing and the whole track can be seen for any position at track-side.

The biggest complaint for competitors is that if you happen to fall, invariably you are badly injured. This was bourne out (again) by some serious injuries.

Doug Lang fell off of his recently fixed Ducati while trying to evade a slower rider during Friday practice. He broke his right shoulder this time (his left has been broken many times). He was back at the track on Saturday sporting his newly acquired arm brace. EmTek wishes him a speedy recovery. We hope to see him back next year.

Deon Muller also had a serious accident during race 2 of the Classics on Saturday. His helmet fell off in the crash and the bike dragged him down the road. The accident looked severe and VERY serious injuries looked likely. We thought the worst. A testament to the human body is that he was back at the end of the races, facial skin left on the track but showing his roasty to all. EmTek wishes him a speedy recovery. We hope to see him back next year.

The racing was great, especially the Classics which looked like a Sunday morning breakfast run, there were so many of them.

EmTek expresses its gratitude to MSA, the officials and all competitors for a great year and some great racing. We hope to see you all back next year (and some new faces as well).
