EmTek Racing News - 2003

04/10/2003 - Crashes aplenty at Zwartkop

On Monday morning there will be plenty sore bodies on their way to work.

Practice saw several offs at Zwartkops (some quite painful) even before the true racing began. Gilbert again broke several bones not braking for turn 4. Peter Swanepoel also crashed his 999 into turn 4, this time breaking his other collar bone.

Saturdays racing delivered even more crashes. The most frightening being Jaco Roux who also went off in turn 4, went through the gravel trap, hit the tyres and catapulted over the barrier almost hitting the ambulance. He was racing in the next heat again (lucky chap).

The marshalling through all the crashes left quite a bit to be desired in that bikes were left where the fell (especially in turn 4) where other riders had more possibility of hitting them than missing them. A poor show by the marshals.
