20/09/2003 - Tony Mingay OK after op

There was an unhappy ending to the second heat for the BOTTS when Tony Mingay and Clint de Tanowsky were scrapping for the win and saw Tony crash quite badly into turn 1 on his beautifully turned out and spotless 999.

The reason for the crash is that the finish line is extremely close to turn 1 and there is no time to scrub off speed if you are racing for a win.

EmTek has confirmed that Tony has broken his Femur and the EmTek Racing team as well as all the BOTT competitors wish him a speedy recovery.

It has become apparant that this track was not designed for such powerful bikes and this has been proven by the fact that the surface is being ripped up by these high powered machines and the finish line is too close the turn 1.
